Conical Hill, with Berserkers - Canon 5d w/35mm

One of many conical, and colourful, hills on the Snaefellsnes peninsula in Iceland.

This hill is surrounded by a vast lava field called Berserkjahraun where, legend has it, two Swedish berserkers, Halli and Leiknir, cut a road through the jagged lava for a local landowner called Styr the Slayer and in return Halli would marry Styr's daughter. But once the task was done Styr the Slayer, true to his name, killed them both in a sauna. Recently two large skeletons were found buried together in this area.

Such a desolate looking location, I bet the environment is brutal in the winter.

Be careful with saunas. Interesting lava desert.
