Svinafellsjokull Glacier, Iceland - Canon 5d w/17-40

Alongside the Svinafellsjokull glacier in Iceland. This is one of many 'tongues' of the largest glacier in the country, Vatnajokull. This particular tongue drops precipitously down into a valley and ends in a small glacial lake, littered with ice boulders.

So many people ignore this glacier and head straight for the Skaftafell park camp ground, but it's very accessible down a dirt road. There's a small lake in front, but it's no Jokulsarlon. I did walk up onto the glacier, just so I can say I had been on one, but it was creaking and groaning, so probably not very safe!

Of your glacier series, this is the one I like best so far.
Yes it is an incredibly beautiful lanscape, but it is well captured : perfect shades of blue, great emphasis on the vastness, the dark rocky hills balance each other well and add to the sense of depth, and there's a foreground, a midground and a background.
