    Wow, beautiful shot Miles.

    First thought that comes to my mind: this is Europe, millions of years from now, separated (it helps if you only look at the bottom half of the image). A bottom left, it looks like Spain. At bottom center, that's a vague representation of France. I guess that's where the analogy stops, as there is no triangular shaped country like the ice sheet on the right side of the frame...

    I'd be curious to hear how you toned this image - I really like the soft magenta hues.

    Eugene, the scene had these pink tones around the sun through the mist/haze and reflected in the lake. But away from the centre the colours were quite dull, so I used a 'photo filter' adjustment layer to tone the rest of the image.

    The image is made up of two shots, one stacked on top of the other, shot at f/1.8 with a 50mm.

    Matt, firmly on dry land! The ice is very thin, winter has been very mild so far.
