Not that I am in the slightest qualified to make comment on your pics, Miles, but I'm finding this one not-quite-right.
I think it maybe didn't need the wood/rock, as it seems to me that the dip in the horizon is the focal point and the foreground adds balance to it, but the other item (is it wood?) is a distraction. It does somewhat compensate for having the horizon smack in the middle of your picture, but still, it all feels...just not quite right.
Is it a beautiful image? Yes. Unquestionably. But I can't help thinking that you normally compose your shots with a skill superior to this one.
