Toronto does get a lot of interesting skies, especially during the summer when storms regularly kick up over the lake. This was taken early in the morning, just after dawn at Woodbine Beach.
It's a 'vertorama', which means two frames stacked one above the other. The lower image is a long exposure and the top one, taken immediately after, is relatively short. The resulting image is very high resolution, this one is the equivalent of more than 30mp.
Really stunning minimalism. The fact that it's in black and white lets us to enjoy the serenity of the scene, spreading the 'mood' of the photo the the viewer.
Great work!
The lack of reflection of the sky in the water (due to how you composed the two shots) really gives this an other worldly feel. Very nice effect. I must get down to the beach more often.

What an unusual cloud. Is this common for your part of the world? I would freak out if I saw this over a Tennessee lake!
