Brad, it's not an HDR image but two different exposures, one on top of the other, blended together manually in Photoshop. It's like a panorama but vertical. There's a Flickr group about the technique here, http://www.flickr.com/groups/vertoramas/
By doing it this way you have the top image exposed for the sky and the bottom image exposed for the foreground. It also means you don't have to crop and the image is much larger than the normal 5d output. This one is close to 30 megapixels.
