Well you may not like it but I do. What was done to it? Anything?

Not much really, I amped up the colour a little and burnt in the sky so it wasn't quite so washed out, then added some selective dodging around the building - you can see it most plainly around the dishwasher on the road.
I understand your feeling... I do like this shot as well, but I don't know why, there's a little something wothering me...
Can't put a finger on it though...
It's a beautiful shot and I like it a lot. My first reaction though was that I thought the top element (the great rusted connector between the buildings) was competing for my attention against the bright backround of the alleyway. But that's likely just me. :)
Thanks for the link Miles. The textures on the buildings here are gorgeous, I have such an affinity for all things old. It looks like a fantastic place to live.
I like the texture and the enviroment created by the alley but I think the bright sky and background It's breaking these enviroment. It's like a contrast.
I really like the tones of the buildings, black works well on the edges. I looked at it for a while, thinking what it is that don't give this picture what it suppose to have...I think its the lines, they all go into the distance, thats a good thing, but at the end its a bit messy, your interesting part is in front and you pass it (very quickly) also cause there is more light behind " the tunnel". I think when you would have only the front of the picture in focus and behind really out of focus your picture would be more in balance..
Hah, that's funny. Yeah I flipped it. After taking the shot I realised it 'read' better left to right (the way most people scan an image) if it was flipped. By doing that the washing machine on the ground holds the eye from falling into the background, helps pull it up. The other way around the washing machine was a starting point for the eye leading it into the background.
What are you so unsure about - the photo or the neighborhood? :)
*laughs*

D'Oh! You "didn't do much" to it?!! Beyond tweaking the colors, the dodging, etc., which are all significant manipulation, you THEN remember to tell us that you 'flipped' the entire picture and only when you're called on it?!
Sorry, but that's just a bit more than a "a little" work done on this and nearly takes it out of rhelm of photography and into photo illustration.
Wow, you shot the same spot I wanted to shoot at, only with some models in the front, :)
Well done! I love looking at this place when I pass by, It's at queen and bathurst. Great!

Now that's funky rust! Great brickwork too. The sky looks realistic and the dodging adds to the focus of the shot.

wow! Love this shot... the rust and pale blue combo are great, and the spacial arrangement is unsettling in the best kind of way.

One of my favs of yours. The dodging makes that diswasher appear to glow, super.
That part of the building is like a guilotine!
