Wow, those colors caused by the sun reflected off the tracks are unreal, almost supernatural. What a lucky misfortune. I love the gradient caused by the sun in the sky as well. Great shot Miles.

    Nice flares

I've often wanted to shoot railway shots (well of the tracks anyway), but never really dared too...

Great colours too, how was these acheived? Hoping just natural and presuming but you never know these days ;)

Thanks, the colours are real, the image is two exposures combined, one for the sky one for below, emulating a grad filter.

Miles you did it again...It def. has that Woaw factor. I've done a couple of shots...straight aim at the sun...not the results I wanted but I'll get there. Glad you posted one like this I'll go out try a few more shoots asap and try your techniques as well.

Well done. Colors are just stunning.

Beautiful! There's a feeling of being watched over in this shot, but not sure if it's a good watching or more of a controlling.

Nice treatment of the subject. The reflections from the tracks and the large orb of light give this an otherworldly feel.

I find it hard to look at this the sun's so bright, how did you look at it through the lens ! Love the flare on the tracks.

That green specular reflection is mighty odd. Is it a "digital artifact" due to the sensor configuration, or is it "real"?

  • Andy

This is such a cool shot. I love that huge sun just dropping off into blackness.

  • Ryan Rahn

I had a feeling it was combined exposures...(grad filter type...perfectly legal). Very well done! Those tracks are unreal! The reflection and flare add a nice touch.

It took me some time to figure out what I was finding so fascinating in this shot. It is not the rail, or the flares... it is the gigantic Sun. It's like a scene from another planet orbiting a huge A type star ready to swallow the little rock so close to it. Very dramatic scene!

Awesome. Otherworldly for sure, and the split of the tracks going two different ways is soo cool. Right on.
