great light on his left eye- very crunchy and sensitive.
I think the fact that there are different plans of zooming within the portrait really create a focal point (i.e. the first plan).
great detail on the hat too:=)
Thanks. The sun was really low as you can see by the shadows, but there was a sign to his right which reflected some light back onto his face making the shadows less dramatic.
His eyes are really expressive. Of course, the DOF is just wonderful. Is it all real?
I've been wanting to get an 85mm prime for a while, but of course that won't give me your portrait chops. :-)

Thanks all :)
Michael, the DOF is all real, it's an outstanding lens, endless detail. It might prove to be a little long on the 20d for my taste, the 50mm is a more comfortable length I think, but it will definitely be useful at events.
Jean, exif info is, Canon 20d with 85mm f1.8 at f2.5, 1/1250 and ISO100 :)
Sweet portrait. I totally love the lighting in this shot, as it's pretty much perfect. I love the old-school businessman look he's got going. The story I get in my head runs along the theme of Death of a Salesman. The man's got a really powerful regard. I really like this one.

Composition and exposure are a tad bit off for my tastes, but still a great portrait.

Looks like he should be talking to Michael Cain in a 60's movie .

Really great portrait, lovely dark areas and shadow in there, kind of hides his eyes but it works really well.

He looks really tired or like he is about to sneeze.

What did you use for that shot, Your 20D ?
Because it's incredibly sharp.

I think you got the idea of an old man, with all the years he carries with him. A tired man, with a look of disappointment in his eyes
