Shot of the dayMonkeygirl
That is a beautiful shot.
Lovely colouring and sense of closeness in racing condition Miles!
No wonder jockey's end up covered in mud after a race, you've captured the heat of the race really well and very differently than your shot a few days ago.
This is a great shot that really captures the grit and determination inherent in the sport.
Interesting choice of toning--I like the way the grass and horse/riders look... but I'm no too crazy about the way the sky came out.
Thanks for photoblogging.
Really great shot! The detail is spectacular - like the muscles and veins in the white horse's chest. Wow. I also really like the tones, which I feel somehow give the shot a sense of motion and timelessness at the same time.
Miles -- you could sell these pictures to a magazine. Honestly.
damn dude - you're rockin' these horse shots. you can feel the power here. i love all the grass that's being kicked up.
Amazing ! Very beautiful horses race !! Outstanding !!
Wow, where were you in all this. You were so close we really get to feel the action. Excellent work!
A fantastic capture! So much detail has been captured!
Not much to say that hasn't already been said Miles. Really wonderful shot. I especially like the film-like quality you've given this ( or is it film?) In any case I'd like some EXIF please :-)
Great shot - you've really caught the action well!
F a n t a s i c!
I mean really, these are just wonderful racing shots Miles. I raise my glass to you.
This picture is beautiful, it looks like a lot of fun taking pictures of race horses! And thank you very much for the "shot of the day", I feel very honored :)
this is what i call 'perfect capppture !!!'
Superb. It reminded me of Edgar Degas' lovely horse paintings...
Exposure information please! I have had a hard time getting this much detail at fast speed with my canon - I'd love to know how you did it!
Heather, I took this with the wonderful canon 85mm f1.8 at 1/1000sec and f3.5, ISO was 400. Even at 1/1000 some areas of the image are a little blurry but the lens does a great job at capturing detail, I love it!
Saw this one on flickr. I like how you desaturated it...
Now this is interesting. I feel like the horses are about to run me over. I also like the vintage feel of the processing.
It does not get any better than this.
Fabulous.........that's all I can say.
