Wonderful shot.. very interesting, because that hoop seems so close and so far at the same time. The size of it seems nearly disproportionate with the surroundings, but that adds to the mystery of the shot. Very nice effect.

Great use of the "toy" effect; I like it better than the bus shots I've seen before. The desaturation all gives the pic a nice vibe. I've been playing with desaturation this week too.

The depth of field is wonderful, and the way you find "life" (or at least traces of it) in such an empty space. The dark edges are also great... ¿how much of this look was achieved in post?

Thanks, I added some contrast and pushed green into the image using a layer blended with 'luminosity', and I added a blur to isolate the subject, create more of an emotional context to go with the figure on the backboard reaching up to the basket. The vignette was acheived by duplicating the layer and blending with 'muliply', then using an eliptical gradient on a layer mask to only darken the edges.

What a terrific effect. It works well with such a simple subject.

I like the depth of field and the vignetting on this shot. Very cool. Still, I can't help but think that it might be better if the car weren't there in the background. Although, I especially like the fact that the backetball hoop is missing from the court.

It's very effective Miles. One of the things I really appreciate about your site is your willingness to share the process.

Crazy DOF! It looks like a minature set. The vignetting works great here.

Neat tricked out pic - the dof is killer. I agree - it does look like a little toy set. Awesome.

the blurred framing really makes this photo so unique... it really bring all the attention on the basket and the backboard... very moody... love it!
