i appreciate your visit to my site very much and i'm happy to make acquaintance with yours this way
i'm surprised to find this kind of 'high-level' photography here (from canada)
i did love your previous colourimage a lot (the van shot from above on the glass of a kind of rolleiflex or something) marvelous, like a still out of a good movie (the colours were wonderful)
this black and white is a beauty too through it's well composed and symmetric framing and the complete pallet of greys
i can feel the bitter cold!
darn it, i wanted to go skating! love the blur in the foreground (im guessing you added that in post processing). Youre really great with that effect!

Thanks Paul, very flattering, your black and whites are simply wonderful.
East3rd: Thanks! I did try adding a tint after the conversion but it wasn't working for me, it took the impactof the tones away.
Faisal: Yeah I did, a little clumsily, add that blur, it seemed too flat without it. I was hoping it would be subtle enough to lift the image a little without being noticable.
I'm surprised by Paul's comment. What, they don't have photography in Canada??? From my US perspective that doesn't make any sense. The blur was nicely done-- I didn't notice it had been done in post.

Thanks Michael, I don't think Paul meant it quite that way :)
what i'm drawn to in this photo is the lighting and the initial symetry made more interesting by the signs on the left...okay, so now i'm inspired to go take a few photos rather than sit here on my arse looking at other people's good stuff!

Fantastic shot. The B&W is a good choice, it makes the scene seem very cold! You might try adding a touch of blue to make it even colder :)

i love the tones in this b&w! you did a great job conveying the bitter cold in the scene. the lighting is almost like a spotlight, very nice!
